For nearly thirty years, the Portfolio name has been associated
with quality eye care. Established in 1956, the practice
has incorporated the most advanced ophthalmic procedures and
equipment available, while making it a policy to put the needs
of the patient first, and provide the best eye care throughout
our patients lives. In 1982, Almerindo
G. Portfolio Jr., M.D., joined the practice,
bringing a fresh, new perspective to the treatment of eyes.
Dr. Portfolio specializes in anterior segment surgery, including
cataract/IOL, refractive lensectomy and LASIK. He is an attending
physician at the N.Y. Eye & Ear Infirmary and an Assistant
Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at New York Medical College. His
main duties at N.Y. Eye & Ear Infirmary are overseeing
the clinic and teaching residents Cataract surgery. He has
trained over 150 ophthalmologists. In 2004, Dr. Portfolio was
named the winner of the Residence Award for
Outstanding Teaching and Dedicated Service.
Marian, is a registered professional nurse for over 25 years and is now our office administrator. Marian has worked for several years in our surgery center as an ophthalmic circulatory nurse during our Ophthalmic surgeries. She now works full-time in our office assisting Dr. Portfolio.
Allison has been with our practice for 15
years. She is now our senior medical assistant performing the technical and medical aspects of our practice. She also works closely with Dr. Portfolio in all aspects of the medical practice and minor surgery performed in our office operating room. She is also experienced in medical insurance billing and coding and has completed the Home Study course for basic ophthalmic assisting.
Camille is part of our support staff who
has numerous years of medical office experience. She
has been with our practice for 14 years. Camille supports
both the medical and clerical parts of our practice.
Lauren has recently joined our office staff. She is currently studying a course for basic ophthalmic assisting and is performing both medical and clerical duties for our office. She is actively working along with Dr. Portfolio to further her education in the ophthalmic field, as well as learn other aspects of the practice. She has become a real asset to our practice.
Our staff has been together for over 15
years and they help each other in every aspect of the practice
when needed. Together they create a pleasurable, family-like
atmosphere for our patients.
