One of the first multifocal lenses for cataract patients, ReSTOR Lens is a breakthrough in ophthalmology.

Traditional Intra-Ocular Lenses (IOLs) were monofocal; they could only focus the eye at one specific distance. But the ReSTOR Lens is able to focus at multiple distances, allowing patients to see both near and far – often without the need for reading glasses.

How does it work?

The ReSTOR Lens is a bifocal lens

The ReSTOR Lens has a refractive outer ring that focuses light for distance vision, and a series of diffractive rings in the center to help the eye focus on near and middle vision. This lens requires good light to read, and it can be associated with some halos during night driving – although usually less bothersome than the glare caused by cataracts.

The ReSTOR IOL is made by AcrySof. Read more at their website.

Patients who formerly suffered from cataracts are once again able to enjoy clear vision, thanks to the ReSTOR Lens. Contact Dr Portfolio’s office today to discuss your options for cataract treatment.
